Reflex text on biopsy is now necessary to give the clinicians the key to treat the patients appropriately. By immunohistochemistry pathologists must evaluate MMr proteins, HER-2 and PDL1 and should classify the tumours according to WHO criteria. Future perspectives are represented by claudin 18.2 and FGFR2b immunohistochemical markers. Pre-analytical steps should be standardized and constantly controlled, in order to obtain analytical reproducible and corrected data.
